Vedic Astrology is also known as Jyotish Shastra. Jyoti means brilliant celestial light and shartra means science.
It is truly the science of divine light. Vedic Astrology reveals the divine purpose of an individual’s birth by studying the planetary positions and their relationship to an individual through the system of the Sidereal Astrology based on the fixed zodiac. It is also known as lunar astrology because it gives more significance to the moon and the constellations (Nakshtras).
The core of Vedic Astrology is the Dasha system which is based upon the position of moon at the time of birth. At the time of one's birth, the planet's
operation period determines the quality of life one is going to live. Based on the Dasha System, timing and nature of events can be predicted years before with 100% accuracy.
In Vedic Astrology, various charts can be created, such as the birth chart, bhava chart, navmansha chart, and rashi chart. Vedic Astrology is famous and unique for its Dasha System known as the planetary periods or planetary strength and positions in the birth chart, which may give either favorable or unfavorable results or effects in their main and sub periods. Vedic Astrology is based upon astronomy, the planetary science of the sky, therefore, Hindu Vedic Astrology is a pure science.
Hindu Vedic Astrology has been utilized for predictions, counseling, guidance and selecting the right and auspicious moments for doing certain acts such as starting a business, buying a house, marriage, etc. It is also used in making major life decisions such as selecting a suitable partner for marriage or a business venture.
Through the science of astrology, guidance can be available on all facets of life—health, wealth, education, children, occasions, relationships, spirituality, healing, etc. In the ancient times Astrology was used by the common man to navigate one's life just as the Pilots use it to navigate the airplanes. The motto was simple living and higher thinking.
